Print-to-Motion Poster
Print and Motion Graphic Design
This poster and its accompanying animation were created (fictitiously) for TypeCon. The theme is based on a talk that Jessica Hische gave at Config in 2024. She argued that, although technology is great, we shouldn’t let it take away the parts of our creative process that we enjoy. The concept, therefore, focuses on the process of drawing type by hand and centers around the CTA: “Don’t Let Tech Take the Fun Out of Type.”
Because this project is inspired by Jessica Hische’s work, I created the poster in a hand-lettered style. To highlight the “designer’s hand” in the process, I began sketching the poster in Procreate before moving to Illustrator for refinement. The animation emphasizes the process of creation rather than simply the end result, by following the sketch as it morphs through its various stages of development.
